I’m sure that most of you reading this blog have heard the phrase “Pro-Choice”.  Most often it is connected to the pro-abortion movement that came into it’s own in the late sixties.  It was formed to oppose restrictions on abortion and to expand access to it (that a woman should have the legal right to terminate her pregnancy).  In 1973 in the U.S. Roe vs Wade decriminalized this practice nationwide.  In 1988 Canada made abortion not only legal but publicly funded.  What is so sad is that there are such a large percentage of our population who agree with this movement that should rightfully be called “Pro-Abortion”.

So what does that mean to the unborn who God, himself created.  He tells us in Psalm 139:13-16 (the Message)  “Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother’s womb.  I thank you, High God – you’re breathtaking!  Body and soul, I am marvelously made!  I worship in adoration – what a creation! You made me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; you know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something.  Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you.”    Here are some sad statistics found on Google.  The W.H.O shows that worldwide there are approx. 125,000 abortions per day for a total of 40 to 50 Million per year.  In the U.S. the total is approx. 3,000 per day for a total of 1,095,000 year and in Canada the latest stats (only available up to 2019) show 84,000 to 100,000 per year.  How God must weep.

That is what the supporters of the Pro-Choice movement in our world have accomplished!  Death on a massive scale.

Now let’s consider a couple of other scenarios where people exercise Pro-Choice and how those choices affect our world.

Alcohol Consumption – is of course totally legal, however everybody has a choice as to when and how much they consume and how that choice can ultimately create havoc on our roads.   Let’s consider the death toll from drunk driving crashes.  In the U.S. it is approx. 100,000 per year and in Canada approx. 10,000 per year. As a recent public service type ad on t.v. reminds us – many of these auto deaths are called accidents but would they have been avoided if people weren’t making the choice to drink and drive?

I also remember working in the Court System in Toronto back in the early 90s and seeing how a very large majority of cases such as (abuse, assaults, marital problems etc) were connected to the choice to overuse alcohol.

Cannabis – can impair your ability to drive safely or operate equipment, make it harder to learn and remember things, affect your mental health and like Tobacco can hurt your lungs and make it harder to breathe.  These problems ultimately spill over into hospitalizations and death (a drain on our health care system).   We also see an increase in the chances of becoming addicted and the numbers will ultimately skyrocket as we see more and more legal outlets where these drugs can be purchased.

I’d like to close this discussion on Free Choice with a question.  Why are adults in our Country being mandated to accept a drug into their bodies (vaccine/gene therapy) with the reasoning that it will protect them and their loved ones from testing positive for Covid-19?  Since this mandate came into affect however, it has come to light that those who have already taken 3 such shots are still testing positive (breakthrough cases) with some still dying from the virus (around 7000 Americans and 450 Canadians) according to federal data. It’s important to also note that they are also able to spread the virus to others.

Imagine, if you will for a moment that meanwhile those who are choosing other protocols to keep themselves safe are being fired from their jobs, kept from volunteering,  entering Government buildings, restaurants, sports venues, buses, trains, airplanes, crossing the border and in many cases are also ostracized by friends and family for their choice.

I would suggest that if you truly believe in FREE CHOICE – you would be supporting those who are choosing to refuse to acknowledge their vaccine status as well as those who are putting themselves on the line to return us to a free Country.

Now let’s see what God has to say about free choice.  Way back in the beginning, we see that God did not make us robots.  The first example was when Adam and Eve had the choice to believe the devil in the Garden of Eden and disobey God’s one and only command – not to eat of the tree of good and evil.  Yes – man was then and is now given free choice to believe and trust in God to make decisions.  If you were to go through the Bible you would see many many examples of good choices and bad choices.

The following verses encourage us to place our trust in the God of the Universe who is always available to help us in situations that might cause us to stumble – who will help us make wise choices.

“For the wisdom of  the world is foolishness with God.”  1 Corinthians 3:19

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  Jeremiah 29:1

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”  Isaiah 41:10

“Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge.  I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.”  Psalm 57:1

“Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life.  You stretch out your hand against the anger of my foe; with your right hand you save me.”  Psalm 138:7

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.   In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will DIRECT YOUR PATH.”  Proverbs 3: 5-6
